A few years ago when I read Pagan Christianity I was extremely excited about the things put forth in that book, becoming an enthusiastic proponent of the things Viola talks about such as "every-member functioning" body, rejection of church hierarchy and the concept of "clergy", etc...

Sadly, as I would receive email updates and read blog posts from Viola, and followed his speaking tours and various online activities, it started to become clear that the ideas put forth by Viola are not exactly (in my opinion) being lived out by the author himself. Instead of gathering around a paid clergyman or staff, what has been put in it's place is the appeal to rally around book authors and "experts" in organic church life... I began to find it incredibly ironic that individuals such as Viola could (rightly) exhort people to cease their tithing and support of the broader institutional system, but then charge people money to hear them speak at various meetings and conferences around the country and world. It is merely a replacement of institutional hero-worship with one based simply on noteriety and celebrity....

Beyond that, I became greatly disapointed to discover that Viola himself is also very sympathetic to exploring so-called "Christian mysticism", apparently not understanding what Mysticism ultimately ties to (occultism). My disappointment turned to outrage when I began to learn about many of the alarming teachings put forth by Leonard Sweet, who co-authored "Jesus Manifesto" with Viola. Sweet, in his book "Quantum Spirituality" makes a sickening appeal for Christians to open themselves to all kinds of blatantly mystical and occultic phenomena, such as psychic experiences, meditation, "kundalini energy" (which is a purely demonic energy encountered in Hinduism) and much more. Reading through that book (which is available online for free now) I was forced to admit that Sweet is an absolute wolf in sheep's clothing, introducing "Emergent"/New Age doctrine to the church while trying to paint himself as a theologically-conservative teacher. Viola, when confronted with questions about Sweet's stomach-churning affinity for mysticism, staunchly defended his well-educated, institutionally-reinforced co-author, accusing anyone who would question Sweet as malicious and lacking in Christ-like love...

In the end, Viola talks a big game about rejecting all the unbiblical facets of the institutional system, but then he turns around and seeks out the institutional elite to endorse his books and legitimize his "ministry", completely contradicting the message of his books (of which I agree with much of the actual content). You will find that questioning an "organic church" heavyweight such as Viola will ultimately yield the same result as questioning the typical seminary-trained pastor of a large church. He may speak at length about the "brotherhood of all believers" and equality within the Body, etc., but through his actions it's clear to see that he STILL regards himself as being among an elite group of teachers who operate on a level far above the run-of-the-mill ("lay") organic church member....

When I try reassert to my friends and family members the evidence that Richard Gage is presenting to us about the WTC buildings coming down as a result of controlled explosions, I run into a brick wall of denial. People are just not willing to even think about this possibility because of the implications - that elements within the US government would turn on their own people. I don't know what the motives or justifications of these corrupt elements withing the government might be. Perhaps they think that it is sometimes necessary to sacrifice some people for the greater good. Or maybe they are just cold blooded killers doing this for money. Or maybe there is a bigger picture - I don't know.

Amazing how this passage recounts my own walk with God, when as a baby Christian I wandered far away from Jesus and when I was sinking and in danger of dying from my sins then Jesus heard my prayers and brought me out... God is so faithful! Thanks for the reminder :-)

The interesting fact about That Hideous Strength is this: Did Lewis name an actual conspirator in his list of fictional conspirators, namely, Cecil Rhodes? When Carroll Quigley did his research for his Tragedy and Hope, a history of the world in modern times, he did the research at Oxford but cited no sources, a fact noted by at least one or two reviewers when the book was released. Though Quigley would later deny there was any conspiracy, his discussion of various events seem to suggest otherwise. Cleon Skousen's The Naked Capitalist, a review of Tragedy and Hope provided some light on the subject, but many other sources tend to confirm the thesis that there really is such a thing and people pay a price for discussing it. Did Lewis lose his position at Oxford for having mentioned a real conspirator by name, if Rhodes was such?

Yes, I've heard people say that about the "falling away/apostasy/rebellion" mentioned in 2 Thess. 2:3. Interpreting that as the rapture really strains the text, to say the least!

I haven't had a chance to study Joe Ortiz's "End Times Passover" perspective yet, but I'll look into it. Have you studied the Pre-Wrath Rapture position before? ( http://www.prewrathrapture.... ). That is the view I currently hold to.

I would rather a movie show the horrors than have people believe all Aliens are friendly and here to help us take the next step in human evolution.

I was intrigued by the Fourth Kind no matter how it was meant to be taken, it was a smart movie. In case you did not catch it, the aliens name was ANU, fyi, ANU was a Sumerian sky god.
The main character has this to say at the end:

"I believe the things I've seen, the presence I've felt inside of me is beyond anything you can imagine, it was hopelessness so it cannot be God but it can pretend to be."

I was fascinated by the owl symbolism. They all saw an owl before the 4th kind experience. You will find the owl mentioned on Sumerian cuneiform texts. I blogged about it in the link.

There was a viral campaign going on with this movie. which was a shame, because the missing are very real, in fact in that part of Alaska it has been called :The Bermuda Triangle". They have a higher ratio to population missing person count than any other state in America. The FBI finally closed their report, but the problem was the villagers did not want to talk to them. I do not blame them one bit, especially when a Nome officer was found guilty of murder, and all their complaints about the weird things and abuses were ignored.
FBI or not, one cannot attribute cause of death to accidental or alcohol for bodies that are missing.

Thanks for your comment, I completely understand your position because it's essentially the same one I held to for the majority of my life. It's only been in the past year or so that I started to question it... I want to sufficiently articulate what my current beliefs are and why, but I'm in the process of moving to a new state right now. I'll try to get back to you in another week or so after I've gotten settled in a bit. I've been thinking about writing an essay or blog post on this subject for a while now, so I'll try to lay out my position in detail so you and others can see if you think it is biblically sound. I heard you on PIDRADIO, and you stated that you are not for defending yourself against the NWO, right? However, GOD is the same today yesterday and forever, and he told the JEWS to fight the Canannites and the other ites. If GOD told Israel to fight, why shouldn't we? I understand your position, but I think there is a difference between laying down your life for the gospel sake, and protecting you and your family. I always ask people who take this passive stance, what they would do if a criminal broke into their house and wanted to rape his child and wife. What would you do? Would you turn the other cheek? What is the difference between what the NWO wants to do to us and that? I would really like to know what you would do in the above scenario. I have taken the stance that I will wait for GOD to speak to me at that moment, but will act to protect my loved ones. If a man does not provide for his loved ones, they are worse than an infidel. That is physi cal protection in all its forms.
